Chilli Mushroom (मशरूम चिल्ली) is a delightful Indo-Chinese dish that combines the earthiness of mushrooms with the spicy tang of chili sauce. For Video @thecookrecipe

Here's a simple recipe you can try: 

Ingredients:

  • 500g fresh mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Kashmiri lal mirchi
  • 3/4 tablespoon black pepper

  • 2 tbsp of cornflour Maida
  • 2 tbsp Corn flour
  • Cooking Oil for fry
  • 2 medium onions, cubes
  • 1 bell green/yellow/ red pepper (capsicum), cubes
  • 8 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp chili sauce or Sriracha sauce
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed in 4 tablespoons of water (for thickening)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Spring onions for garnish
  • 2 or 3chopped green chilies (adjust depending on how much you want )


Process:- 

  • Clean the mushrooms thoroughly and slice them. 
  • In a bowl mix Mushrooms, Chili powder, Black pepper, Maida, Corn flour, and mix well. Add salt as per taste. Leave it for 15 mins. 
  • Heat oil in a pan or Kadhai on medium high flame. Put the coated Mushroom in hot oil.
  • Fry them till light brown, at medium heat, in hot oil. Keep it out and keep it aside
  • Heat the oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Mix in the ginger and garlic, minced. Saute for one minute, until smells.
  • Add sliced onions and fry for about 2 minutes. Then add bell peppers. Stir fry for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.
  • We'll add green chili sauce, vinegar, soy sauce, and tomato ketchup. 
  • In a separate small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a mix.
  • Add salt and black pepper. Pour the mixture into the pan, stirring constantly. 
  • This will help thicken the sauce. Cook for another minute with water until the sauce thickens.
  • Now, add fried mushrooms to the pan. Mix well.
  •  Cook it for 3mins. 
  • Add finely chopped spring onion. and green chili slices for flavor. 
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
